WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO TREAT YOUR AUTO RELATED CRASH INJURIES ????
START PROPER TREATMENT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
Do not wait until your medical coverage is wasted on ineffective treatments such as the usual treatment of pain medications, heat, e-stim and harmful exercises that are making you hurt more! Trigger Point Therapy is an effective treatment for auto accident, sports, play and work injuries.
Mary Jo has OVER 20 years experience and special training in the proper treatment of strained muscles. Left untreated, even a minor car accident, sports injury, work injury or a fall can lead to pain, stiffness and dysfunction, which may last for years.
Fortunately, Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy and Medical Massage is covered by most auto insurance in PA. In most cases you can receive the treatment you need without any money out-of-pocket, not even a co-pay!
Have you been hurt in a car accident, looking for the best way to treat whiplash, have whiplash headaches or were injured in a sports, play or work incident, you have come to the right place.
I MUST have a prescription from your doctor (MD, DC or DO) and that doctor will be overseeing your care. (See the "forms to fill out" page) You will return to them each 4 - 6 weeks (as they instruct me) for re-evaluation on your progress. I can help by explaining my treatments to your doctor if needed.
If you have Nationwide Auto insurance, they have chosen to limit the treatment you can receive. There are some therapist in the area that have doctors in the office that CAN treat you, I can make suggestions.
LIMITED WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY
To determine whether treatment, MYOFASCIAL TRIGGER POINT THERAPY or any other care, is necessary and related to injuries suffered in a crash, insurance adjusters look to see if treatment began shortly after the accident and whether the care was on a regular basis following the injury date.
You NEED to see your medical doctor ASAP to document the injury. Failure to promptly seek treatment or to stick with the treatment can lead to denial of coverage. Don't let "life get in the way" of proper treatment. Don't get frustrated with improper treatment and give up. A year from now when you are just as bad or worse, it is no longer an "auto related injury", you will be out of luck. You will have to pay for my services out-of-pocket.
MECHANICS OF MUSCLE INJURY
Watch the crash test dummy, yes, your head and body really do whip forward and back into the seat and head rest! Get hit from the front or side and there is a complex reaction of twisting and whipping of the body. THAT is why you have a headache or neck and back pain after the accident! The sudden trauma just caused trigger points to be created and activated any old ones that you have had! The body will begin to heal itself with scar tissue, will create more trigger points, decrease your range of motion and leave you prone to continuing pain and re-injury.
Far too often I hear from folks who are still in pain from back and neck injuries related to accidents that happened 5, 10 or even 20 years ago. The sooner the treatment, the better, but there is almost always still help for old injuries, even if there was surgery or the injury was mistreated or ignored at the time.
My professional combination of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy, myofascial release and deep tissue and medical massage is designed to help your release the trigger points in the muscles, minimizing long term problems.
Pennsylvania is a No Fault state and requires every licensed driver to carry PIP (Personal Injury Protection). PIP coverage is medical coverage in the event of an auto accident injury. Many people remain unaware of the full scope of this coverage. You do not need health insurance to get immediate help and treatment. This coverage usually allows you better control of the treatment and you can use BODYWORK/MASSAGE, CHIROPRACTIC, AND PT with fewer restrictions.
YOUR insurance covers YOU (in most cases) whether you are the driver, passenger or pedestrian! It covers you even if you are not at fault! The minimum is $5000, I suggest that everyone should have at least $25,000 and better yet $100 thousand for your medical! I personally suggest that you check your coverage for the un-insured and under-insured motorist. MANY irresponsible drivers have no insurance and often no license for that matter.
This is even more important if you have little or limited health insurance! Increasing the "med pay' on your auto insurance is the least expensive medical coverage you can buy!
Even if you have not been in an accident, please look at your policy now! The minimum for med pay is often $5000 which is the minimum.
If you are hurt, that will not go very far at all. If you have no-tort, you may not even be able to try to recover $ in court if you are severely injured or disabled. If you have little or no medical insurance, you need your 'med pay' or coverage for your body, to be even higher.
Call your company and increase the amount now, before you need it! The cost is very little and it is well worth it if you ever need it. Medical insurance will not pay for my services.
